Pelmanism – historical connections continue

Ok - just making a brief observation here…

I’ve just begun to read the first book, The First Principles of Pelmanism. It seems it’s primary function is to aid in success in the market place based on the statement, “Today it is the business man with the greater acumen in studying the conditions of the market, the abilities and resources of his competitors; … to whom the world gives its prizes.”

The interesting connection is that in two of the physical examples he uses, the first regarding setting the time table and the second speaking about the things that we know about the mind…his examples are straight out of my current life. The night that I’m not available for any study is Tuesday as many of you know I direct a Sweet Adeline Chorus (women’s barbershop) – Harmony Showcase and it keeps me on my toes. The second example alluded to a student desiring to study a forign language, specifically Russian. So I have the Rosetta Stone course in Russian – and I haven’t gotten very far to date.

There is definitely a sense of - - what? so you’re looking over my shoulder from almost 100 years ago?

Like I said more of an observation than anything else at this point.

Until tomorrow – make it a great day!

Entrepreneurs & Small Business Owners – read on :)

Having been a performer since the age of 5 and an entrepreneur since the 70’s…

Here are two questions for you…

Have you ever listened to YOUR Audio Business Card (or elevator speech)?

If you are like most of us the answer is probably “no”. So, if not, why would you expect someone else to listen much less be intrigued?

Isn’t that what you are after? You network to build your business right? That 30 seconds may be the only time you have to attract someone’s attention. You invest time and money to attend the event and then – you’re going to get clients because your product or service is so good they
can’t refuse, right? Wrong!

I know we tend to be very critical of ourselves. In 30 years there isn’t an excuse or reason I haven’t heard or used to avoid an honest self-appraisal of a performance or presentation.

Writing down your ABC, let alone listening to yourselves recite it, is not a comfortable thing to do. Sometimes the reason is a simple as – if I do not like it and I rewrite it then what? I keep going through the
same process and getting the same results, isn’t that the definition of insanity?

That is why Global Connections Networking encourages everyone to record your ABC. Everyone who attends a virtual meeting has the opportunity to do so free of charge. You record it, listen to it and then
rerecord it should you choose. You now use that presentation to market your business during the online networking meetings.

On the other hand – what if you know it can be better. You hear the quivering in your voice. Your words sound so similar to others in your profession that it seems the only difference between you and them is your name. Yet, you KNOW you are different. You know your doing what you were born to do. Your passion, your knowledge and your expertise are clear indicators that clients should be beating a path to your door. And they are not.

So you can ramp it up by taking advantage of the fact that Global Connections Networking provides members up to two hours free coaching on their Audio Business Card – content and delivery per quartet. It is one of the basic benefits of membership.

The team at GCN reviews the content from a sales and marketing perspective so your words will attract the referrals you desire. Once the content has a solid base, we help make sure that the delivery is smooth and confident.

Now, once it is perfected, you have to be present to deliver it, right?

Not any more.

GCN posts your ABC on your GCN web page and provides the audio file to put it on your own (separate) website should you choose. Now, when someone has a referral to send you they have the opportunity to hear you first so that when you do connect – it is a more qualified lead. They have heard your voice, your energy, your pitch and they liked what they heard.

Check it out and take advantage of the next virtual meeting or join GCN and make your Audio Business Card, your elevator speech, something that makes that 30 second marketing opportunity something that works for you today!

A Reminder

I received a letter today from a subscriber that – as always – is a perfect reflection of my life. In it she said –

Thank you Kira for today’s WORDS of wisdom about FEAR.
Most of the time I always knew how to overcome fear in many situations of
my life, but right now it is very hard for me – I feel stuck.
I am in a very difficult situation financially and one can not help it to
worry what will happen I am trying very hard to stay focused and upbeat, but
it is easier said then done.I am waiting for the phone call about the
perfect JOB I applied for so please pray for me.

I count my blessings every day Kira.

As I wrote to her – and reminded myself
Thank you for sharing with me. I shall certainly keep you in my prayers and
in the meantime consider the choices. Please think about the words you are
wearing for yourself and reread the message you wrote.
If we believe that what we focus on expands then the very words we utter
become more real and true with each repetition –
I believe there is a reason that we were given the instructions "… Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever
things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be
any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things"
I say this from my heart since I also have to remind myself that I
am encouraged to be at peace no matter what the circumstance and I have a
greater guide and friend that is there for me.

May you be blessed with insight, love and freedom to look on the creations of the universe and always be in awe.

Your Freedom Guide,
Kira

Flight To Freedom

I wrote a short story the other day based on a dream. I found such lessons involved from the ability to have good things come my way based on allowing them in, to the obsticles when it’s about the "don’t want".

But – you can judge for yourself :)

Enjoy.

Flight To Freedom

A short story by Kira Wagner

It was late in the evening and, as the sun was setting, a few golden rays lingered on the distant mountainside. Skylar found her thoughts filled with the desire to feel the warmth of the sun and she began to move.

She was flying again. It was different this time. This evening she didn’t “think” about how to start or how it would look, nothing about how different she wanted it to be. Skylar just started moving toward the light.

Moving through the trees and the branches she kept going up when she noticed a few power lines. Compared to the myriad of branches in the trees, these were nothing

As she flew through the trees gravitating toward the fading sunlight Skylar found herself confronted with an intense maze of power lines, so thick she had to pull them apart. Using her hands to get through them she thought of the possibility of electrocution. But, nothing happened and she found herself surprised at that instant.

It was then that she noticed the power lines were all connected by very thin, sheer gauze. It was quite strong, so much so that she couldn’t tear it to get beyond it

Skylar could see the sunlight still brilliant in the distance.

She needed to get through this maze to get to the light. Wanting an opening it appeared before her. A huge gap suddenly existed between two of the heavy power lines so she simply flew through. Who was she to question the opportunity right in front of her?

As she continued upward, attempting to stay clear of any further obstacles, it grew very dark.

She was looking for the sun and couldn’t find it. She’d lost sight of it.

Suddenly Skylar was confronted with a ceiling – slatted boards and quite well made – but a ceiling all the same.

She had made it through obstacles before on other journeys but this – this one was different. She didn’t feel that she could get through this. She could feel her heart start to pound in her chest and even in the absence of the sun’s warming glow she began to sweat. It was as if her body began to thrum with the beat of a bass drum.

Skylar was afraid. She wasn’t going to make it through.

Then she heard a still small voice reminding her that she had made it before. Ever so gently it was reminding her to remain calm.

She knew there was a way if she just looked so she stopped flying around like a darting humming bird. Taking in a breath she saw it. In that instant, as she looked where she had last noticed the sun, there were three doors contained within a glass wall.

The sunlight was on the other side.

Her eyes were drawn to a massive, aged padlock lock on one of the doors. Momentarily she felt the fear that she would have to return…to go back.

In that instance she noticed the lock was on the door marked “in”.

There were two doors that led “out”. Both had a wide lever to open them that simply said “push”.

Noticing that the sunlight was stronger on the door on the left she moved forward toward that one, pushed on the lever and went through.

Once on the other side Skylar drank in the sun as it shone brilliantly against a bright blue sky. She basked in the air as it had that fresh spring morning smell of green grass, sweet spring flowers and that damp fragrance of sun evaporating the early morning dew.

Looking around she had the feeling that this was an anachronistic experience. As Dorothy said to Toto in the Wizard of Oz, “Toto, I don’t think we’re in Kansas any more.”

Somehow tonight’s flight took her “through” to a different place and time altogether.

It wasn’t that things really looked any different. In fact, in the distance she could see a sprawling city with cars filling the streets and lights promoting the myriad of businesses for the millions of people bustling about.

Now Skylar never went flying with anyone. She never talked about it. Her nocturnal flights had been just that—contained within that evening and all undercover of the starry night sky. So in that sense this whole experience was out of the norm but she wasn’t prepared for what she saw next.

She gazed up. Looking higher into the sky and she saw a hole. Skylar didn’t know what she expected after the ceiling she had just left behind but it wasn’t this. Here was a vast unfinished air duct. A hole was one thing. It could have been an anomaly like a black hole—she was well aware of the myriad of things she didn’t know but this? An air duct? In the sky?

She could see everything—the wood frame partially hidden behind white clouds, yellow insulation encased in brown paper on either side, the round silver tubing of the duct itself…and…an airplane that was flying into the tubing. A plane that appeared microscopic against the enormity of the air duct.

As she stared she found herself wondering what this was all about.

It was as if this were a part of life that challenged her saying, “Come, leave your journey and spend a lifetime figuring out why I’m here.”

It was then that she knew this was a mystery for another day, another time. It wasn’t important to know why the air duct appeared in this hole in the say. Nor was it wasn’t important, right now, to understand why that plane chose to take that route.

This was a mystery to explore another day.

Nothing mattered in that moment except the feeling of the warmth of the sun and the freedom in this moment to “be”.

Skylar wanted to share this feeling, this event with someone. She found herself thinking how wonderful it would feel to have someone join her in this experience. As she turned to fly home she noticed that the return trip seemed instantaneous compared to the journey toward the sunlight.

She had been thinking about Peter and the next thing she knew—she could see him standing there—off in the distance, playing with his granddaughter Susan.

Settling down on the sidewalk Skylar walked up to Peter telling him that there was something she wanted to share with him. She asked him if he would join her for “just a few minutes”.

Sending Emily up to the house they walked off across the street to a park surrounded by trees. It was quiet and no one in sight.

Reaching a grassy knoll Peter asked what this was all about and for a minute Skylar was afraid that it wouldn’t work with someone with her. Every previous flight had been when she was alone, at nighttime, everyone was around her was asleep.

Again a kind of peace that came over her, that calm sense of just “being” and she looked at the top of the trees seeing the stars in the distance and she was moving…up.

Level with the top of the trees Skylar stopped and hovered. Looking down at Peter she smiled asking him to join her.

At first a wistful smile played across his face. She knew that look – how often had she had it when there was something she wanted and yet didn’t believe she had the right to possess it.

Then she noticed a worried look in his eyes. She could hear his voice cut clearly though the silence as he said, “That’s not right, you shouldn’t do that”. He turned away to go home. He didn’t tell her to stop. He didn’t say to come back. He only told her she shouldn’t be doing what she was already doing.

She knew that he could do it. Skylar knew that he could fly too, and somehow she knew that he knew it.

She also knew that he didn’t want to. He never would fly because of his choice. His family couldn’t fly because they didn’t believe that they could. He wouldn’t leave them behind so he would never even try.

Skylar felt herself starting to drift back toward the ground

For a third time that evening she was afraid. Afraid this time that, she couldn’t fly, that if she continued to fly she would be leaving her family behind.

She realized she didn’t want to hurt anyone and she wanted the approval. In that instant, she knew that the desire for approval was the greatest obstacle she was facing. She knew that she didn’t need his approval to fly, she loved the feeling. She loved the freedom. She loved the warmth of the sun and always being able to feel it fill her with energy and life.

The sun warmed her skin and she felt secure in its “touch”. She loved the feel of the tree tops and running her hands through the leaves and branches. She loved the crystal clear view of the stars with nothing between us.

If she always had to have his or others approval she would never be free.

Skylar smiled then noticing she was till in the air. She had stopped descending.

As she watched Peter walk towards home he turned once and smiled. No words but a look that said everything and then she turned and flew away.

Skylar could fly and people could see her—or not—it didn’t matter any more. She knew it was about letting others choose their path, about being able to be one with the universe, to experience in a grand way, all of the joys that life has to offer.

She had allowed herself to accept her freedom.

Doing Heartwork verses Hardwork

Have you ever noticed how much "hard work" is going on in the world today?

When you’re in the middle of doing something you really love, I mean your really passionate about it, do you think "whew, this is really hard work"?

Among other possibilities the word "hard" is often defined as "difficult", "not easy" or "dispassionate".

I’ve noticed over time that the concept of what is hard is passed on from generation to generation.

  • Work hard in school to get good grades (scholarship).
  • Work hard to get ahead (succeed).
  • Work hard now, play later.

Working hard involved some kind of frustration or desire for a different set of circumstances.

When we’re in the middle of an activity that we’re passionate about, or doing our heart work, time stands still, we take no heed of the energy we’re investing, we’re on a roll. Regardless of our circumstances we are free.

Pursuing our heart work allows us to experience the Divine. It allows us to be present, in the moment. I’m coming to realize that life, or more appropriately living, is about doing our heart work at all times. It’s about have a team doing their heart work.

When I’m sharing Freedom’s Formula, Global Connections Networking or Harmony Showcase, as a speaker or singer, from my heart, and letting others do their purpose – or job – we always have an incredible experience.

When I try to do someone else’s job (and I have) OR I am doing a job that someone else suggested I should do, at that time I find that;

  • I am out of alignment with trusting that it will all turn out perfectly as in – I am afraid of the results
  • I don’t believe that God will keep His Word
  • And ultimately I am afraid that I haven’t kept my end of the bargain…maybe I believe I should have done more or done it better or faster or whatever may come to mind

We all pay the price. And whatever is going on is truly HARD WORK!

Allow yourself to do your heart work first and it will never become hard work later.

7 C’s to Freedom

On the journey to the top of your mountain you may find many different guides. As you’re freedom guide here are the specifics that will assist in getting you where you to the top. Each of these seven steps is built on the previous and they add up to a powerful free life for you and all of those around you.

Enjoy!

  1. Choose – choose the Freedom path – the abundance. There are a lot of different words for freedom including love, joy, happiness, peace of mind. If you don’t choose freedom I assure you – you are choosing fear. It’s the same idea that, if you fail to plan you are planning to fail.
  2. Clarity – be clear about your freedom; what do you desire. The more precise you are about your desire the faster it will come to you. If all you are asking for is "more" money then a penny works. If you want a lot more money then $100 might work; the word "lot" is subjective. It’s not clear. Think about the words small vs. large, tall vs. short, hot vs. cold-these words fall short of creating clear outcomes. What would happen if you told your partner you wanted to make some more money? If you are a business owner, do you want 10 more clients a week? What happens then? Did you ask for the support to allow you to benefit from the new clients or will you burn out?
  3. Create – create an environment that allows the abundance. If your place of business is so cluttered that there is no room to allow in the new systems, equipment, supplies or products you are effectively saying that you don’t really want what you are asking for and you will find yourself looping by experiencing that feast and famine routine. The abundance isn’t really able to stay. So do whatever it takes and make a statement to yourself by creating the space of abundance.
  4. Communicate – allow your whole self to communicate the openness; through your thoughts words and actions. Use words that communicate abundance. Dress for success. Clean out your thinking by communicating with yourself the idea that you believe in what you have to offer. Communicate your passion and pride in yourself and your product or service at all times.
  5. Connect – make the connections by using all of your senses with the freedom that is around you. Be open to the opportunities that are around you. If you have set your intention on a specific outcome stay connected to the fact that you are receiving feedback from the moment that you stated your intent.
  6. Consent – let the freedom in; recognize that it is there just for the allowing. The freedom is around you at all times. The first five steps opened up the channel and the key is to remember that you have the choice to allow it in. If it is financial freedom – accept it, allow it. Be open to receiving it.
  7. Commit – in the end, be committed to your path of freedom. When things don’t look as positive as you’d like, go back to the first C of "choice" and make the choice again. Remember, you always have the power to choose.

Who are you to deliver your product or service?

I was in a conversation yesterday with a friend who asked the question, "Who am I to deliver this (their)message?"

I have to admit that I have asked that question of myself, some days more than others. The simple answer is "Who am I to refuse to deliver a message that I have been given?" Especially when I believe that this is my path, my purpose in life.

As we talked, I realized that there are many people who are out there talking about the Law of Attraction, Love and Fear, Freedom, Choice, I’ve even seen Freedom Formula (as opposed to Freedom’s Formula) and the list goes on.

A few of the notables that I have since come in contact with, or become aware of, since starting my own company Freedom’s Formula include;

  1. Don Miguel Ruiz with The Four Agreements
  2. Byron Katie with The Work
  3. Neale Donald Walsh with Conversations With God
  4. Esther Hicks with The Teaching’s of Abraham
  5. Dan Millman with The Peaceful Warrior’s Way
  6. Joe Vitale – Mr. Fire
  7. Chellie Campbell with The Wealthy Spirit
  8. Laurie Beth Jones and the Jesus series
  9. Louise Hay and the healing work
  10. Suzanne Falter Barns with her Joy work
  11. Tony McGee with the Destiny on Demand
  12. Royce Morales with Perfect Love Awakening
  13. T. Harv Eker with Peak Potentials
  14. Melanie Strick with Success Connections
  15. Wayne Dyer with Motivation and Intention

and the list goes on – thank goodness!!!

There are people out there who will only be able to hear YOU. The way you talk, they way you interact – the same message but only through your voice.

Why is it that we find ourselves in the doubt about our message and/or the fear that there isn’t enough if there are others "doing what I do"?

I’ve listed 15 other individuals who have put the message of freedom, love, joy, abundance, happiness and peace out their in their own way.

I currently live in Southern California and there are well over 21,000,000 (million) people who share this part of the state with me. If anyone bothers to do the math, that STILL is over 1,000,000 potential clients for each one of us. Now each of our business’s are not limited to just one geographic location as speakers, authors and seminar leaders. Therefore, that number is only a small fraction of the possible clientele available to each one of us. The big plus is that this particular song is so important that the more of us that are singing it together – the more in harmony the world will experience.

The goal is to keep the eyes focused on the the abundance not the lack.

Regardless of your profession, if you are passionate about your calling, then make the choice today to have the abundant life of your dreams.

Lies you’ve been told about FEAR

and
What you can do about it!

You’ve heard the acronym for fear is "False Evidence Appearing Real" and I want to tell you that those individuals making that statement are forgetting a very important reality.

Have you ever seen a child when they’re afraid? Maybe they see someone in a costume and they start crying – I remember how my children, when they were in the Terrific Two’s, hated going to Chuck E. Cheese even though prior to that age they loved the noise, music and characters. Now, they were afraid of the characters, Chuck E. was someone unfamiliar in their everyday world.

There are a number of reasons that psychology gives us for childrens’ fears but no matter how we try to explain it to them they are still afraid, right?

How many of you are afraid of something? It might be a phobia of certain small creatures; like bees, spiders, snakes or other small animals like rats and mice.  Maybe you’re afraid of crossing bridges, flying in planes, standing, and looking down from high places, like the edge of a cliff.

Maybe your fear manifests itself as anger or depression when someone does something and you feel pain as in the cases of physical or emotional abuse.

For the business owner, fear might be seen as frustration when they receive a rush shipment of product for a key customer and the order is wrong, or when the assistant doesn’t deliver a message on time, or an employee fails to complete a project on time.

Then there is the parent whose kids are getting out of line and they just want their child to "behave themselves appropriately". They want the child to get the grades they are capable of, to do the chores when they are asked, to treat others with respect.

Maybe the fear shows up in a relationship where the partner is showing interest in another person and the feeling of fear may surface as jealousy.

That relationship may even end up in divorce. What about the child of the divorced parents who is acting out by being the class bully or failing in school when they had previously been an A/B student?

You may experience fear as anger when you’re driving down the highway and someone cuts you off for no apparent reason-other than the other guy is "a jerk".

The faces that fear wears are as varied as there are emotions that are "not love".

So now, if I tell you that your fear is just "false evidence appearing real" how does that make you feel? Doesn’t it feel as if I’ve just told that your feelings are invalid (false) and yet, they’re YOUR feelings!

Try telling someone who’s just been laid off, lost a loved one, been through a divorce, or afraid of spiders or bees, or the child who’s screaming hysterically that it’s "not real".

The feeling of fear is VERY real.

For a moment, consider this meaning–"Forget Everything And Run". Isn’t there a strong desire when we’re afraid, to remove ourselves from the situation or to have it removed for us? Don’t we find ourselves wishing that it would all be different and "OK"? If I could just have them back again, if it just had happened "this way", if they had just done what I asked, if they had just been paying attention. The list goes on and on.

In our depression we want to sleep, to be away from everything and everyone.

In most other forms of fear we might "show them a thing or two" by directly striking back either emotionally, mentally or physically or indirectly by removing ourselves from the situation. This can be seen in divorce, abuse, restraining orders…you get the idea.

All of these situations are VERY REAL to the person experiencing them. They are their feelings. Don’t discount them. Don’t use, or even feel, the phrase "false evidence appearing real" as it doesn’t serve the purpose of removing the fear in the first place. Consider the choice to be present with your feelings as they tell you "where you are" at any moment in time or to "forget everything and run".

Finally, consider the power of the choice.

When we understand that we live in a universe that is governed by a Law of Attraction, and we are creating our world every moment of every day, then we can choose how we feel about something or someone.

We have the freedom to choose Love or to choose Fear. We choose to be free or to be imprisoned. We choose to experience abundance or lack. We choose to be present, to be our true self, or to escape and hide behind a mask.

So what is you’re choice today? Now? Will today be the day that you choose Freedom?

The Power of Passion

Recently I was speaking with an attorney; talking about their business and what they wanted from their networking. We discussed the idea of focusing their initial dialog on their preferred aspect of their business and an interesting thing happened.  When I asked what really set them on fire – what passion fanned the flame – they answered, "It’s not Law."

Understand this: this person is successful by all standards as an attorney.  They have a wonderful, engaging personality and I would trust them to handle any case. They nearly froze when I asked that question.   As the conversation went on, we discussed the fact that many people hold the idea that one cannot make money doing what one is passionate about.

As I see it, that’s the one true way to really make money – to live a full life; to really make a contribution to the world.

In order to make money there is some transfer of energy. It can be either goods or services, yet, although I have both to offer, the concept that I’ve struggled with in the past is that it’s about the selling. I’ve been taught that I need to be able to close the “sale;” I need to be able to move in that arena in order to make good money. If nothing else I’m selling myself, my concept.

As much as I’ve hated selling in the past I have discovered a different way of thinking about it.

  • IF I believe in what I do, I’m driven by my passion and my passion is the driving energy behind what I do…
  • IF I know that what I bring to the banqueting table is honorable, viable, and beneficial to human kind and
  • IF I know that I am on the right path…
  • THEN I am morally bound to pursue that passion
  • AND I am bound by that same moral code – that same integrity – to be sure that everyone understands what I have to offer and give them every opportunity to "get it."

That means that it isn’t about the selling at all. It’s about using every resource I have to speak the language of my clients – using skills that I may or may not have developed yet to be sure that I’ve exhausted every avenue in order to educate them about the benefits and options my company brings to them.

An article today in The Kentucky Kernel speaks about the decline in job satisfaction among employees between 35 and 44 and the power of passion to create positive results. Another article in CNN online quotes Explorer Robert Ballard, who has spent most of his adult life exploring the ocean floor and combing the deep-sea for lost shipwrecks (notably he was the discoverer of the Shipwreck Titanic), as saying, "Follow your passion. Chase your passion whatever it is. If you don’t do what you love you’ll never get where you want to be."

Following a passion, believing in your dreams, has been a successful model for a multitude of individuals: Walt Disney, Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, Oprah Winfrey, and Bill Gates, just to name a few.

When we fan the flame on our passion, move toward our freedom, doors open. Opportunities are created out of what seems to be thin air.

If you find that your activities are neither in line with nor support your passion, take some time today and let yourself dream. Ask yourself what your world would look like if you were doing what you were wildly passionate about. What would it look like if you were as successful as you knew you could be? Give yourself the gift over the holidays; imagine how you might achieve a passionate life and know that it all starts with being who you really are from the inside out.

Station MSFM #2

Hello Again,

Two out of three goals have been accomplished.

I’ve gotten the overall business plan down on paper and gotten it to the coach – though it took longer than I had first thought. It wasn’t that it was hard. I procrastinated. Everytime I would sit down to tackle the job – and that is what it felt like – I would go into instant overwhelm. Part of what got me moving forward was realizing that I’ve done functional flow diagrams for others that were quite comprehensive just be letting myself look at what currently existed. It isn’t really any different. I was trying to work it from the inside out instead of the outside in and I don’t believe it works that way – not from anything I have read or done. Now it’s a matter of putting together the individual project plans.

After spending time with Adam (http://www.themarketingmentors.com/) I’m refocusing – I’m a great one for putting a dozen things in a day. You know the type – of course I can do that, I mean – what’s the big deal right? Well it’s a matter of partitioning all of the events so that the highest gain will happen in the right time.

This next week is about the project planning for the next major event in January – which may end up in February. As long as it helps people see what power they have to affect change in their own lives – February works for me :)

I think that I’m ok with adding the ‘writing the press release’ to this weeks "how to" list since it didn’t happen last week and the other piece is that I’m supposed to be writing some of my own sales copy.

At least the value of writing some of it my self is clear now – it has to do with being clear about what I’m selling. That goes hand in hand with the being passionate about what I bring to the world.
